If offline on stage is where you thrive, Molly, hold that close and don't let it go or get distracted by the online pursuit of hearts and validation. I'm probably going to be writing about a similar topic this week, but you've posed so many good questions here about who are we doing this for? Thanks for such a well written dive into a topic that I'm sure is on so many of our minds.
Thank you, Jenna ♥️ That's the conundrum for me. My best work happens offline on a stage, but the only way to fill the seats is to show up online and sell it. There really isn't another way to do it right now and all us artists are somewhat hostage to social.
The good news is that getting older (and a little wiser) helps me tell the difference. Some posts are Swedish Fish at 10 pm: quick hit, regret at 2 am. Others are more like soup. They take longer to make, but they actually reach the people who'll come sit in the theater. I'm trying to make more soup. Can't wait to read yours this week!
I loved every word. I think we all get stuck in that internal debate about what others want. You ask a very insightful and often overlooked question, “What does the soul want?” Damn. That requires actually listening. Deep listening. I am finally learning to put my intellectual self in the back seat. I need to start each day with this question. We all could gain so much just by dialing into our own inner wisdom. 🙏❤️
